Role: Lead Front-End Designer / Developer
BSDOC is a web-based application I contributed to as part of our group project for the Modern Systems Analysis and Design course. It was my first experience with web development, and I served as the lead front-end designer and developer. The application helps individuals manage minor health issues by allowing users to input symptoms, receive over-the-counter medication recommendations, and access guidance on managing their health at home.
A key feature of BSDOC is its symptom checker, which analyzes user input to identify possible ailments and suggest appropriate OTC medications. I integrated Firebase for the database to securely store user profiles and symptom history, providing personalized recommendations for future use.
Designing the interface in Figma allowed me to ensure a clean and intuitive layout, prioritizing accessibility for users with basic digital literacy. Throughout the development process, I balanced functionality with a simple design, aiming to make the system easy to navigate while ensuring it met all technical requirements.
This project has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to apply my front-end skills while learning more about web development and user-centered design. Since then, I've learned a lot and gained valuable experience in both front-end development and working collaboratively in a team environment.
